King Crab

I can't believe I haven't dedicated a post to my favorite show, The Deadliest Catch!

Why do I love this show? I have asked myself that very question every time I stop on the Discovery Channel to watch yet another re-run. What is it about a bunch of crab fishermen on a crab boat in the middle of the sea that is so darn exciting?

I think that the main reason I enjoy the show is the variety of personalities on each boat. Sure, Sig and Edgar on the Northwestern have "brother fights," and the Harris' have fights with their dad, Phil, on the Cornelia Marie (if that's how they spell it), but they all manage to get the job done. The idea of a group of people facing horrible waves and harsh climate to make a living for their families is reassuring when you look at the world today. Not that a person that sits in front of a computer at work doesn't deserve his money at the end of the month, but, when you see what these guys go through to earn money...you feel like they really deserve it.

I might add more to this post because I feel that I haven't even scratched the surface on why this show is great...but that will be later.

I think you are just a pirate at heart - so of course, you are mesmerized by the sea!
